animals

This is a complicated world where the luxury of being a small pampered plastic toy meets the complications of the real world and one in which I, the artist, grapple with my own complex feelings about it all. Plastic toy dinosaurs have revelations that they are created from their deteriorated fossils, toy chickens prance around as dinosaurs' feathered descendants and rubber ducks meet and reconcile themselves with actual ducks. There is never a resolution, just a necessity to discover new questions.

Created in watercolor, gold, and pencil, as well as dirt and egg yolk, this series plays with concepts of object, perspective, and value - the animals encourage the viewer to interpret and explore perceptions of personal, social, and political structures.
